Designation Service Transition Engineer
Job Description
Service Transition Engineer (STE) is responsible for performing numerous aspects of technical implementations for customer on-boarding projects

Responsibilities:

Configures customer devices/solutions for integration with APCS support systems. Includes configuration for:
Event Management (Alarming, Polling, Ports and Protocol setup, etc)
Remote access
Security
System Back-ups
Optimal device/system configuration for delivering APCS services and meeting customer requirements
Reporting
All customer device configurations required for APCS to deliver support services
Configures APCS support systems and tools (e.g. ESP, MATRIx and MATRIx related apps such as Prognosis, AppCritical, TMART, etc)
Collect the necessary device configuration parameters required to establish direct connectivity with customer environments; usually an IPSec VPN
Manages/Drives vendors in the proper configuration of elements that cant be configured by STE team
Performs thorough testing of configured elements prior to declaring element as ready for Day2 support
Serves as organizational Subject Matter Expert for all technical aspects of customer on-boarding and migrations; provide assistance to internal Avaya groups as required
Supports Project Coordinators and Service Transition Managers on the configuration of all data and technical elements to bring a device/solution into APCS management
Provide technical training to colleagues related to new tools or technologies used to perform job responsibilities; create job aids and documentation as required
Recommends solutions to enhance processes and tools for the purpose of reducing time and cost associated with on-boarding customers
Support other projects and process improvements as required by needs of the business.


  • 5-7 years minimum of direct industry experience required.
  • Significant experience in configuring communication solutions/devices
  • Familiarity with technical testing.
  • Preferred:
  • Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree in an information technology related field
  • Experience in configuring Network Management applications is a plus. For example:
  • o HPs Network Node Manager (NNMI)
  • o BMCs ProactiveNet Performance Management (BPPM)
  • o AppNets Pathview
  • o Interactive Researchs Prognosis
  • Experience in configuring Avaya Unified Communications and Contact Center solutions is considered a major plus
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent
